Invasion of Privacy Essay Example for Free

Invasion of Privacy Essay While straightening your teenagers room, a book falls on the floor. You pick it up and see that it is her diary. As a parent, do you have the right to read it? Would it matter if you found the diary outside her room? Is it okay to read the diary if you suspect there is problem your teen is not telling you about? As a child, did you ever go into your parents room (without permission) and snoop around? Was that an invasion of their privacy? Did you find anything you werent supposed to? Did you learn from it? Did you tell them? You have every right to read your childs diary whether its found in the laundry or their bedroom. There is nothing wrong with knowing what your child is thinking, the changes that they are experiencing, or perhaps any troubling matters they dont feel they can approach one of their parents with. Consider yourself lucky you found it. Invasion of privacy? I dont think so; it could save their life. As long as your child is living at home with you, yes, you should read her diary entries. You are there to protect your child not only from outside influences but also from herself. If it means going through their belongings then so be it. When they move out and establish lives of their own, this is when you give up certain rights as parents, including reading their diaries. I guess my term is not snooping; it is monitoring your children. My parents monitor me. There is nothing in my room that my mother does not have access to. It is unacceptable for anyone to hide anything in our house. And, she monitors which people I hang out with. Granted, I didnt appreciate it for a while, but as some of her NO WAY choices started ending up hurting me, or others, I knew she had my best interest at heart, and wasnt trying to sabotage my life. I agree that its okay to go through your kid’s belongings. What should be done if you are going through it and you find something inappropriate, you find some roundabout way to bring it up to your child and see if they open up about it. By no means do you say, Oh, I was in your room snooping and found this or that. You have to protect your kids. Sometimes they will get into the habit of believing everything their friends say, not thinking that their mom or dad have been through or experienced just about everything theyre going through and have the wisdom to help them out in certain situations. Of course children do not believe that you should be snooping into what they want to call their privacy. They also think they know everything and can make wise decisions. They think it is ok to text and drive, drink and drive and show their private parts while on spring break. Kids think they should not have to go to school or have a bedtime. Do I have to go on? I think you get the picture. Bottom line is, they are not paying for a phone, internet, computers, Ipads and the electricity it takes to keep them running and until they do those items are not theirs. They are the property of the parent or guardian and can be looked at, searched, monitored at anytime they please. My point is, if you’re not doing anything wrong then there should not be a problem with anyone looking at your text messages or emails which by the way are not private anyway. If you feel you should have privacy and you are old enough then get a job, be responsible, and pay for all of your things yourself and you may also want to move out on your own until then, As my mom says â€Å"My house, my rules.† Legally, parents have the right to monitor their childs communications simply because they are legally responsible for the childs actions. Parents are legally responsible for their children. I know of past cases where parents have been arrested for crimes a child has done and they also can be held financially responsible. The trust element also comes into play when both the teen and the parent know they can trust each other that their home is a place free of harmful communication. To do that, the parent has to actively monitor the media that the teen uses and engage in censorship, no matter how awful the word seems. It is simply the act of a responsible society that harmful communication is not displayed to children and that children do their part in respecting the laws of society. I am a teenager. I think parents should be able to monitor my personal life, specifically my texts, because of all the dangerous things in the world. You start to notice on the news teens using drugs more often than they have before. Using a simple text message to one of your friends about drugs or anything can start peer pressure. Youre not talking in person so its easier to text it then actually say it. I was reading a story on CNN about a computer programmer who figured out slang use of words to cover so parents wont get it. He does have a website up with the meaning of the slang use of words. I looked at one and it said â€Å"tdtml†. This means â€Å"talk dirty to me later†. Parents should be able to ask for the phone to see what they are talking about. They should be able to ask for it at random times. My parents also told me that they will check my phone whenever giving me a heads up that I will just hand it over at any time. This has helped me a lot in my life to stay away from peer pressure and many other things as well. Using the website noslang.com can help parents figure out what their kids are texting. Reading the CNN report on what they could code for words was absolutely amazing. Go to cnn.com and in the search bar type in Parents do you know what these texts mean?† Parents you will be stunned at the reports and the type of coding teens use in these days.

Essay --

Based upon the assessment of these important aspects, therapist psycho-educate the family and adolescent about the important findings of the detailed interview and plan out the intervention. Case example of assessment findings in obese adolescent girl: The mother of a 12-year-old girl came for consultation for her daughter’s weight concerns and comments that the girl is concerned about her weight and is being teased about this at school and in the family. There is a family history of obesity in parents and grandparents. During the assessment it was found that the girl’s main interests are sedentary activities like watching T.V., internet use and playing video games. Physical activity is limited, ‘screen time’ is 4-5 hours a day and dietary habits put her at risk of weight gain (skipping breakfast, frequent snacking, consuming soft drinks, and high preference of junk food). The girl has not attained menarche and has a BMI above the 95th percentile on the US-CDC growth chart and normal lipid profile, liver function test, glucose and insulin levels. On psychosocial assessment, she was found to be anxious and depressed due to her increasing weight, body image concerns and previous failed attempts of weight lo ss. She lost her confidence and has low self esteem. She indulged in emotional eating as well to overcome her stress. She has fewer friends as most of the people tease her about her weight. So she prefers to stay alone Impression: Obese with high risk of further weight gain and psycho-social problems. Components & Structure of Cognitive Behaviour therapy There is enough evidence to support the effectiveness of comprehensive behavioural intervention program that include dietary modification and exercise routine as treatment of ... ...cific and realistic goals that can be easily measured (e.g. walking/ running for 40 minutes, five times per week). Give them rewards for achieving goals. 9. Don’t use food as reward. 10. Limit sedentary behaviour Limiting television/computer/video game time gradually from 3 hours/day to 2 hours/day, finally to 1 hours/day (most of the time the strategy of reducing children’s sedentary behaviour can be more effective than a strategy of promoting physical activity). 11. Teach self monitoring to the child Give responsibility to monitor his/ her eating behaviour and physical activity by maintain logbooks/ diaries. Verbally praise the child for taking responsibility. 12. Enhance open communication with the child Let the child be comfortable in sharing his/her feelings with you because many a times child would resort to food to overcome these negative emotions/feelings.

Korean confucianism

Confucianism is defined as â€Å"an intellectual, political, and religious tradition, or school of though, that developed a distinct identity in the 5th Century BC from the teachings of Chinese philosopher Confucius† (â€Å"Confucianism,† 2005). It began in China and is now widely accepted in different parts of Asia such as Korea, Japan, and Vietnam (â€Å"Confucianism,† 2005). There are five moral disciplines which are given to govern the five human relationships. They are as follows: (a) Justice and righteousness should mark the relations between sovereign and subject; (b) There should be proper rapport between father and son; (c) Separation of function between husband and wife; (d) The younger should give precedence to the elder; and (e) Faith and trust should reign over relationships between friends (â€Å"Korean Confucianism,† n.d.). Confucianism has pervaded Korea and the country has been labeled as one of the most dedicated followers despite the fact that it started in China (â€Å"Korean Confucianism,† n.d.). In line with the foregoing statement, it is not surprising that I adhere and respect the teachings of Korean Confucianism. However, it is to be noted that modernity has also swept over the country of Korea and has changed some aspects of the people’s adherence to Confucianism. I carry with me the value and respect for the government as the authority that has the power over the country. That is the reason why I abide by the rule of law and the policies and decisions made by the government. Moreover, I respect the relationship between the younger and the elder together with the responsibilities that comes with it. For the elders, I give them due respect and for the younger, I carry authority and responsibility over them. I see to it that generations before me and my ancestors are given respect both living and dead. In addition to this, the closeness of the family and the respect for the relationships of one another is always borne in my mind and in my heart. Nervous Conditions

In my opinion, Tambu was neither seduced nor brainwashed by the â€Å"Englishness†. Tambu had grown up in an African society  whereby women were fighting for the effects of patriarchal traditions in the history of their culture. Women in Tambu's society  struggled to find their voices in  this male dominated world. Tambu did not want to be like one of these African women, being trapped in traditional roles and could be nothing more but just a good housewife. She realised at a very young age that perhaps the â€Å"Englishness† was her only escape route to a better life. A life that has no more  poverty and women are able  to break out of their traditional roles. Therefore, she was so determined to pursue this  Ã¢â‚¬Å"Englishness† that she would never ever give up  her dream no matter how harsh things had turned out for her. Apart from that, she was also able to see how differently things were for the English educated people like Nhamo and Babamukuru. Both of them were highly respected and had the power to make people listen to them. She wished to be one of them and  knew very clearly that her life could definitely be made better if she was like one  of them. This made her strive even harder for education. Hence, I conclude that Tambu was not seduced or brainwashed by the â€Å"Englishness†. After all, this is the road Tambu had chosen for herself voluntarily, a road that she assumed will promise her well-being, dignity and freedom.

Compare and Contrast of Macbeth Essays

Compare and Contrast of Macbeth Essays Compare and Contrast of Macbeth Paper Compare and Contrast of Macbeth Paper Behavior of Macbeth Macbeth was not always the cold-blooded killer that one may depict in the later acts of Macbeth. At the start of the play, Macbeth could be described as a loyal hero who aimed at serving his king. However, when Macbeth came across the opportunity to seize the throne, he capitalized on it. After killing the king Macbeth changes personality and becomes extremely paranoid. I believe if Macbeth would have stayed loyal and respected the king, Scotland would have stayed peaceful. Macbeth murdered King Duncan in order to fulfill his prophecy of being king, as the witches informed him. Another detail of the prophecy to consider is Banquds future. The witches say to him Thou shalt get kings, though thou be none, meaning, mfou will never be King of Scotland, but your descendants will. Macbeth takes a mental note of this statement and the Jealousy eats away at his morals. Due to Macbeths paranoia after killing King Duncan, he makes a rash decision and sends wo murderers to seek out Banquo and his son. Although Banquds son, Fleance, escapes, the murderers execute Banquo. The paranoia of Macbeth becomes more noticeable as the play progresses, an example being the banquet scene at his residence. He has uncontrolled outbursts alarming all of the guests present at his home. Macbeth becomes unstable and is not able to continue with the dinner. He would have never acted in such a way had he not murdered King Duncan and Banquo. Macduff beheads Macbeth, seeking revenge or the murders of his wife and children, after Macbeth defeats Young Siward in battle. Malcolm is crowned King of Scotland after Macbeth is overthrown. Shortly after, Malcolm begins to feel like a target to his Jealous brother, Donalbain. Malcolm takes action and executes his own brother. Worried that his decision may be questioned, Malcolm recruits two murderers and sends them to kill anyone who raises suspicion. Scotland falls into shambles as the newly crowned king follows in the footsteps of Macbeth. Scotland is described as a peaceful land while the well-respected King Duncan reigned. However, the murder of King Duncan can be directly related to the fall of Scotland. Before learning of the Kings death, Lennox predicts the upcoming disorder, signified by nature. Scotland is thrown into a state of upheaval as Macbeth reins king. Consider the circumstance that Lady Macbeth did not push Macbeth into committing the murder. I believe that Scotland remains serene under the rule of King Duncan. Compare and Contrast of Macbeth By tonydz24

Insider Trading Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 2

Insider Trading - Essay Example Insider trading simply refers to trading in securities with possessive influence of material nonpublic information (Shin, 1996). Prohibition of insider trading derives the force of law under the federal securities law Rule number 10b-5, promulgated by courts pursuant to Section 10(b) of the Securities Exchange Act enacted in 1934. Additionally, the Insider Trading Sanctions Act ("ITSA") enacted by the congress in 1984 and the Insider Trading and Securities Fraud Enforcement Act ("ITSFEA") of 1988 basically expanded the definition of persons in â€Å"control" of information capable of giving undue selective advantage to certain investors (O’Brien, 1995). In particular, â€Å"insiders’ not only refer to managerial officers, directors and controlling shareholders, but also covers corporate outsiders in possession of inside information disseminated to them by either true or constructive insiders. Under the foregoing legislative initiatives, insider trading is a violation of the ethical coded conducts laid down and monitored by the federal government and the Securities Exchange Commission, which is an extension of the government. Ordinarily, company employees as well as clients will most likely have access to material non-public information regarding possible advisory courses supposedly taken by clients or public companies (Harris, 2003). As an employee of Medivac, Manny was an insider with full knowledge of a proposed merger between her employer and Medtronic. Though the position held in the company is not mentioned in the case beforehand, Manny is seemingly knowledgeable enough of the treasure in waiting, perhaps with a basic understanding of insider trading regulatory principles to evade the consequential effects of violation scenarios. As stated above, the violation of insider trading law traditionally involves the purchase and/or sale of securities aided by "insider" material information that is/are non-public.
